Avoiding Sunburn
- Bring and apply lip balm/gloss that contains sunscreen.
- Apply sunblock several times a day.
- Wear a wide brimmed hat during mid-day.

- Moisturize sunburns well

Shopping for Sunblock
- Buy the highest possible SPF.
- Look for something sweatproof and waterproof - usually referred to as "Sport."
- Moisturizing sunblock is also good, though not as important as sweatproof.
- Avoid anything with a distinct odor, particularly banana. You'll have to apply it several times a day.
- In addition to regular sunblock, buy a couple of sticks of lip balm/gloss that contain sunscreen.
- Pump/aerosol is easier to apply.
- Sunblock containing DEET (a very effective, common but reportedly toxic insect repellant) is not necessary. There are no bugs on the playa, so why take chances?
