Wanted: This is only a very very brief overview of law enforcement. Much more needs to be said.
All local, state, and federal laws apply in Black Rock City. Enforcement is a separate, complicated matter. Anything such as assault or harassment is enforced as it would be anywhere. Enforcement of food safety regulations (for large camps with large kitchens) is on the rise, as is enforcement of the drinking age (for anyone giving drinks to someone else.) There are also definitely drug fines, arrests and busts, but given the amount of drugs on the playa, this enforcement is fairly lax. The general rule is to try to be a little discreet, and you'll be fine.
The law enforcement officials (LEOs) come from all over. They are usually very friendly.
