Glue
From Burnwiki, a Burning Man Wiki & Brain Dump
Glue can be extremely useful, but not all glues are alike, or effective on the playa.

Glues that Work
Fabric Glues
Fabric glues can be very handy if you want to give away patches, or otherwise attach fabric to fabric. It's generally far quicker than sewing.
Gorilla Glue
Extremely strong, works on many metals, but takes a while to dry. It tend to be brittle when dry, so it doesn't work particularly well on things that need to flex a lot.
Hot Glue
No, hot glue won't melt on the playa. It doesn't work very well for smooth surfaces (particularly metal), but it will do a great job on anything rough, particularly fabric.
JB Weld
This is an epoxy made specifically for metals. It's extremely strong (far stronger than Gorilla Glue) and can work well for bike repairs. You'll have have less working time than the package says.
Rubber Cement
There aren't many reasons to bring rubber cement, except maybe to use for patching bike tires.
Glues that Don't Work
Superglue
Dries far too quickly.
Spray Adhesive
This creates a very thin layer which gets saturated with playa dust far too quickly, rendering it only minimally tacky.
Preparing Surfaces
Many glues need to be applied to a clean surface. The danger on the playa is that everything gets coated with a light layer of dust. This can be easily cleaned with an alcohol pad. If it's a particularly dirty surface, try using a baby wipe first, but be sure to clean off any soapy residue from the baby wipe.
