Wanted: More tips and information on easy ways to cook on the playa.

Aside from the standard gas grills and camping stoves, there are a some innovative ways to cook on the playa:

Let the sun do the work: leave canned food on your car hood. By evening it will be quite hot, and you only need to open the can. As a variation on this, it's possible to make or buy solar ovens
If you have a generator with enough capacity, bring a cheap microwave. This works particularly well if you have pre-prepared food in a deep freeze cooler
